Hart baseball alumni return to play and honor Ryan Haag

Hart baseball hosted their annual alumni game on Sunday February 6th. Former players from three decades showed up to share some laughs, play a three inning exhibition game and honor Wall of Fame inductee Ryan Haag. The event kicked off with the singing of the National Anthem by actress and Hart baseball parent Kelly Packard. The 2022 Hart baseball team was then introduced followed by Ryan Haag being inducted onto the Wall of Fame. Haag was a member of the 1999 CIF Championship team.

While playing for Hart, Haag anchored the solid defense for three years with his wide-ranging defense at second base, and his offensive skills at the top of the Hart lineups produced numerous hits, runs and stolen bases.  Haag’s first season on the varsity began the hit parade with a .393 average, and he followed that initial season with a monster junior campaign to lead the Indians to the CIF title.  Haag cracked a .485 average with five home runs, 12 stolen bases and 29 RBI for a 27-4 record on the CIF title team.  Haag continued the offensive onslaught in his senior year with a .380 average. Haag followed up his high school career with an honor-laden collegiate career at California State University-Northridge and California State University- Fresno before being drafted by the New York Yankees in 2004.

The alumni players then played a three inning exhibition match. The game was commentated by Head Coach Jim Ozella. Among the past players in attendance were Jack Ralston (St. Louis Cardinals organization), Stephen Sussdorf (Philadelphia Phillies) and Super bowl champion quarterback Matt Moore (Kansas City Chiefs).
