D1 coaches are NOT allowed to have contact with recruits until August 1 of their junior year in high school. This includes talking to travel ball coaches about their prospects who are NOT yet in their junior year of high school.
Coaches are NOT prohibited from attending events where underclassmen are playing, thus recruiters will continue to attend tournaments where high school freshman and sophomores play.
High school players ARE still allowed to attend camps at schools as underclassmen. So if players are NO longer allowed to communicate with coaches or take unofficial visits until their junior year, camps provide their only opportunity to see campuses and interact with coaches.
