Werther, an outstanding hitter on the JV team early in 2023, moved up to the Varsity team mid-year and responded by hitting .353 and only striking out twice in his 35 at-bats. Werther, a left-handed hitter, wields a potent bat, and now drives the ball into the gaps with added strength and velocity. Werther’s catching prowess improved as well this fall with additional arm strength, and improvement in his framing and blocking. Werther provides another quality left-handed bat to the lineup, and additional opportunities abound with the DH spot and sharing the catching position with senior Ryan DeLaMaza. The coaching staff expects a banner year from Werther in 2024.
