Whitson, a talented sophomore, received limited opportunities on the varsity last spring, and increased maturity and growth should increase his opportunity for success. Whitson hit .136 last year in his 22 at-bats and pitched 7 2/3 innings with a 5.48 ERA. Whitson’s three-pitch arsenal can be dominant with a firm fastball and biting breaking stuff, plus a diving change-up. Whitson continues to work on improving his consistency and dependability, and the Indians’ coaching staff expects greater success in 2024. Offensively, Whitson works on bat path and confidence as his improvement grows, and again, his consistency and dependability of performance will assist Hart’s success.
