DeLaMaza returns for his third year on the Varsity, and the right-handed catcher is primed for his best campaign ever for the Indians. DeLaMaza’s added strength and increased hitting repetitions due to focusing on baseball this year should create more line-drive doubles and RBI potential from him. DeLaMaza hit .279 last year with 11 RBIs, and the middle-of-the-lineup hitter should receive additional RBI opportunities this year. DeLaMaza’s catching game improved throughout last spring and summer, and the coaching staff expects a display of excellence with his receiving, blocking, and throwing this season. DeLaMaza, an athletic catcher, should also be able to steal bases for Hart in the spring.
